Karmadillo gigs

Nerd themed gig alert!!!

April 14th, 2013

Theres a nerdy themed gig going on Friday April 26, 2013. More details from the Facebook Page. I guess I’ll just have to throw some science stuff into the mix won’t I? ;-)

In particular, it’ll be a pleasure to support RANDOM aka Mega Ran a forefather of the whole nerdcore hip-hop movement and it’s safe to say that without him artists like MC Frontalot, MC Chris and MC Lars wouldn’t even exist. His music is hip-hop but his love of video games and nerd culture take centre stage, especially in his Mega Man-themed series of albums (which are even officially sanctioned by Mega Man’s creators Capcom!). Also supporting is MC iPOD.

Doors at 8ish. Starts around half 8. All at the Corner House, Newmarket Road, Cambridge. An even fiver on the door, or save a quid and buy a ticket from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/215932

Gosh, it’s been awhile!

March 14th, 2013

I’ll be coming out of sabbatical with a gig tonight at Cambridge’s Bright Club Re:generation event during the Cambridge Science Festival. I’ll be unveiling two new Professor Karmadillo songs to the public – one on the Mars Curiosity Rover, and t’other on one of the freakiest looking creatures that also aids cancer research – the naked mole rat.

It also looks like some bits need tweaking with the website and I’ll be changing mailing list provider, so I’ll soon be back to updating you regularly with Karmadillo and Professor Karmadillo shenanigans!

Take Care

Buzz Festival

Performers & Pints 11: 2nd Anniversary Bash!

June 24th, 2012

I had planned on not gigging until the end of the summer given the birth of my daughter but the invite to support Will Makower on his album launch party on the second anniversary of the Performers & Pints night in Potton was something I had enjoyed and thought I would like to give it a go. The album isn’t going to be ready in time, but the event is still going ahead.

Karmadillo will be on 2nd – around 9pm I think. I may be a bit ropey as I haven’t had much of a chance to practise much over the past few months, but there is a great set of acts playing also including Alex Holmes & Della Lupa.

The Red Lion, 1 Station Road, Potton SG19 2PZ
Friday 29th June
Doors 8 for an 8.30 p.m. start
Free entry (donations welcome for artist travel exps)

10 Years of The Charango & Nee Health Service Fundraiser

January 17th, 2012

It will be 10 Years since I wondered into a shop somewhere in La Paz, the capital of Bolivia. To celebrate this momentous moment I thought I would have a gig. It will also be the last Karmadillo gig for a while due to imminent baby arrival – plus the last time I drink as after this I will be on emergency labour transport alert. It’s going to be a party!

To say a big thank you to the staff at the NHS who have given knee operations and physiotherapy this will be a fundraiser for Chesterton Hospital Physiotherapy Section and the Osteopath Clinic at Addenbrookes. I put my faith in them, they gave me hop, and now I repay with charity.

Also a big thank you to the following peeps for supporting me in this endeavour. Check out their websites and music!
Karmadillo 10.15-11.00
Jacqui & Geoff 9.40-10.05 – Acoustic songwriting brilliance feature Tom from The Pony Collaboration on drums
Jana Tyrell/Happy Hunting 9.05-9.30 – - great vocalist and pianist coming up from London

Cambridge Museum of Technology gig

September 17th, 2011

Playing a gig in an interesting old building with lots of history (keeping the river free of pollution from the late 1890s to 1968), you can help support the museum that was saved from demolition after it closed in 1968 and has been run mainly by volunteers, on a low budget, ever since. The day runs from 11 to 5 – Karmadillo will be on in the afternoon 2-4pm, and I’m trying to write something to fit in with the building as well!

Cambridge Oxjam 2011

Professor Karmadillo – first PUBlic appearance

September 17th, 2011

So the first Professor Karmadillo gig will happen on October 3rd at The Portland Arms, Cambridge.

It will be as opening support – and ironically this first gig is on a night featuring another bands last. After 4 albums and however many years The Vichy Government are stopping. The night will have films, a fez on the door for donations, free junk and fully licenced bar. Well, thats according to the Facebook page where you can say if you are coming or not. The other act on is Quimper.

Here’s the guys from Vichy Government doing their take on a Nirvana song….
